But I can tell you first hand, with my expert experience & ability when listening to any song, singer or group, I can tell & know just by listening to them, if they have what it takes to make it in the music industry as well, so with that said, then yes, SWV was a great group back in the day & I played songs by them on my show, but not because they were requested or even popular, it's because " I " really liked the song & knew this song(s)never got any air play & the song had that special quality about it that needed to be heard, which in turned, made the song a hit on my show & my viewers wanted to hear all the time. SWV was a great group, but there really wasn't anything that unique about SWV, that really stood out from any other female group that I played music by on my show(s), which in turn was that great sound, the music, the songs or even the voices for that matter, that set them off or apart from another group, so I didn't get many request for SWV's music to be played. The blend of their voices together in the sweetest harmony coupled with their signature uptempo rhythms reminds me of the 70's female group, "The Emotions". It is one thing to have such breath and vocal control when singing a slower tempo song, but to exercise such tight control of ones stroll up and down the scales within an uptempo is...well let's just say, it is nothing less than "a Georgia Peach's homemade sweet potato pie" for the audience! They were girls when they first blew me away in the nineties, and I was already a seasoned woman. Today, these seasoned women have just blown this ole lady away all over again!
