From UPTOWN–Back in October, a video of a male McDonald’s cashier pummeling two female customers with a metal rod went viral. The attack happened after he was assaulted by the women. Despite the mixed reaction, the cashier was hauled back to prison (he previously served a decade for manslaughter) where he remains awaiting trial.
Earlier this week, the cashier, Rayon McIntosh, 31, gave an exclusive interview with the New York Daily News detailing the brawl that led to his most recent arrest.
“I was not looking for trouble,” said McIntosh. “The trouble found me. People are portraying me as a vicious attacker… I was just working at my job when I was attacked for no reason. I’m not a heartless person.”
The confrontation between the employee and the customers, both 24, began when McIntosh checked (as required by store policy) the fifty-dollar bill the customers had paid with.
“She said, ‘Oh, you think my s–t is fake?’” McIntosh recalls. “She started saying, ‘Suck my d–k.’ She called my mother a whore.” The woman then, according to McIntosh, spat on him and threatened to “cut [him] up.” The tape also shows one of the women slapping him in the face. McIntosh retaliates by shoving her.
McIntosh then recounts what can be seen on the tape, seen by hundreds of thousands of online viewers. Both women hop over the counter toward him. He backs away as the women approach and they continue to pursue. He then returns with a metal bar used to clean grills, hitting the women, knocking them to the floor, and belting them again each time they try to get up.
The video, replete with audio of screeching customers and the whir of the metal rod cutting through the air, shows an unquestionably violent counter-attack. But was he wrong?
