From Hello Beautiful– Fantasia has received an apology from the producers of the upcoming Mahalia Jackson biopic after unauthorized comments blaming her pregnancy for the pushback in production were made by the film’s “financing broker.”
A man named Adrian Taylor was listed as the film’s “executive producer” and told the NY Post that producers were “furious” with Fanny for not telling them about her unexpected pregnancy until she was four months in. He also said that they believed Fanny would “sully” Mahalia’s name because she was having a baby out of wedlock.
However, reps for the film are claiming Taylor’s comments were “not authorized” and apologized to Fantasia, according to EURweb. In a statement, they wrote:
“Double Dutch Productions, LLC. (DDP) extends apologies to Fantasia Barrino for the inaccurate, non-factual and disparaging statements of Ms. Barrino’s reputation, character and image.”
