Lucite is hot again this season! We’re seeing it pop up in bangles, earrings and even heels. While we love a small dose of lucite here and there, it can be daunting to achieve a polished, pulled together look with the plastic accessories. Here at Vixen, we thought it might be a good idea to provide you fashionistas with a guide to the Lucite trend.
There’s really only one rule to abide by when rocking lucite successfully this fall: Keep it simple!
Just because H&M is selling a set of Lucite bangles with a matching necklace and earrings, it doesn’t mean you have to wear all three pieces on the same night along with your lucite-heeled platforms. Mix in some other metals. If you’re rocking Lucite hoops, go for interesting brass bracelets like Sasha Charnin. Lucite can look very cheap if it’s not done correctly, so less is definitely more.
Keeping the rest of your look simple is also important when you’re wearing lucite pieces. It might not be the best idea to rock your new chandelier-style earrings with a 30-inch ruby red Wet & Wavy weave and a purple smoky eye. A classic chignon or pixie cut puts the spotlight on the lucite. Winged liner and a bold lip will up your glam factor in an understated but still super sexy way.
Prints and color blocking are still haute going into the fall, but it’s a little tricky to pair these loud looks with lucite. Stick to a solid color (black always looks polished), or a subtle print in subdued hues.
Well, Vixens, there you have it! The key to keeping your ucite look sophisticated instead of juvenile is simplicity. Remember Lucite looks great with deep, rich colors… blacks, eggplants, and aubergines will definitely help you stand out while still looking put together for night or day.
Now, how easy was that!
