Try your hardest not to backtrack!
You’re missing him and really just want to have that old thing back. Quite possibly, he’s even tried to reach out to you saying he’s made a mistake. We get it, but you better be careful! Corinne singing “Like A Star” or Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor” might have you convinced that he’s the one you’re supposed to be with; you want to fight for it. Wrong! Stay focused on healing your heart. If he didn’t get it the first time, what makes you think he’ll cherish you the second go ’round?
Enjoy the things you do love and the people who still love you!
It’s easy to get caught up in the process without noticing. One day you wake up and see boxes upon boxes of Kleenex and think I’ve got to get out of this house. That’s when you’re halfway there! Start going out with you best girlfriends again. Slip on the freakum dress (yes, play Beyoncé’s record while doing this) and go party! Now we’re not saying you’ve got to go all out like Jennifer Williams on Basketball Wives, but have a little fun. If you spot a cutie, speak kindly and explore that flirting side again. (Note: No man is to be taken seriously until your heart is full recharged!)
As well, do not forget to do the simple things! Grabbing lunch with a friend, hitting a concert by your favorite artist, shopping for that new pair of shoes you’ve been craving for, etc. All of the above are activities of rehabilitation!
Recognize what this process has taught you!
There was something to be learned while letting him go. Maybe you need to be more aware of the men you choose, maybe you didn’t truly know your worth in the relationship, or maybe you just weren’t ready to love another person so deeply. Whatever the lesson may be, there is one. Alicia and John explain it best…
Celebrate the fact that you can finally move on!
Being single can be a good time! Looking back at a rough breakup can make a Vixen want to shout! Queen Bey’s “Irreplaceable” and VIBE Vixen’s favorite male bashing anthems will help you along the rest of the way. Swag it out, get confident and let him know what’s he’s missing. You’ve always known your worth; you just had to get back to celebrating it!
