Oprah is known all over the globe, not only for her amazing business sense and ability to connect with the masses, but also for her great strides in philanthropy. Her charitable efforts are going to be rewarded this Fall by the Academy of Motion Picture Sciences.
Oprah will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award which is given to a person in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian work has gone above and beyond. In case you forgot, she has founded her own foundation, the Angel Network, as well as a school for girls in South Africa. This will be her first Oscar Award, though she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in 1985 for The Color Purple, which was her debut in film. Oprah will receive her award at the Governor’s Award Dinner in Hollywood on November 12th.
On the fashion front, Ms. Winfrey is dazzling on the September 2011 issue of O Magazine. She is rocking a gold sequin gown from Theia Couture. Is this a preview of what she might choose for her big award night? Stay tuned to find out.
