I totally agree with the article. I also believe that she will not make the big sales because the sales of Gucci Gucci are not so good. She has barely made it to the Billboard 100 despite all that publicity (she should have been in the top 10 Billboard. Her concerts are very small venues. She will never sell out a full stadium (in our days it's where the money is).

You must have read my mind when you wrote this blog. This is exactly how I feel about Kreayshawn. I don't have a problem with white artists doing hip hop or R&B, but they have to be authentic, talented and offer something new to the game.

I'm not shocked one bit that MTV is trying to blow this girl up. They are looking for the female Eminem. But the difference is that Eminem has talent. Kreayshawn is all style and no substance.

I agree with everything you wrote in this article. She cannot be taken seriously as a rapper/mc/lyricist.She does come across as a parody more-so then an hip-hop artist.Just goes to show how water-downed and unauthenic rap music has become.

Thank you for juxtaposing the treatment of Lil' Mama with Kreyshawn's... that is basically what I was trying to say in my post...

I was shocked to see that the article was written by a Black man. Like Pavlov's dog, I have learned to expect nothing more.

Charlemagne's behavior was typical and the white female privilege was evident. People wonder why Black women can, at times, seem hard... it's because they pretty much have to battle the world on their own...and although Black men are getting the "knight in shining armor" treatment from the media, that treatment has yet to be seen applied on film, or in reality, to a Black woman. It has pretty much been the opposite, so there is for me, another layer of offense...yes, White Females Can Be Rappers Too, but, given their inherent privilege (comforts that have been unearned), it would be difficult for those who have been ignored and vilified to support or believe in "the chosen one's" authenticity.

Kreyshawn is just the beginning... she's Vanilla Ice, but we all know that the industry was just dipping its toe into the water and will pass up Jean Grae to ACTIVELY look for a more authentic (rap certified) white "girl", an Eminem, an Adele, simply due to her race. They are going to do a search, to put money, power, celebrity into the pocket of a white girl who, at this very moment, may have NO real rap aspirations.

So all this is crazy...it's a horrible time in America right now... it's like Jim Crow for Black women and the poison is being spread globally...

I REALLY wanted to like her when the buzz was just beginning. I still do like the song and cool vid but when the buzz started to ridiculously outweigh the artist and her accomplishments it just really struck a nerve with me. I mean what is the industry coming to. I mean Ke$ha is no remarkable artist but how dare you snubb her for . . . this chick.

Can we all agree MTV did this for the WOW factor and subsequent dialogue the nominations would surely receive?
