Have you heard? Rocawear is currently revamping its look, and VIBE Vixen was present at an all-exclusive event last week to give you a sneak preview. At the Rocawear Style Suite, industry heads and tastemakers abound were cordially invited to “re-imagine” the brand, and trust us when we say that you’re gonna love what they have in store.
Laced with old-school tailor flair and hosted at SoHo’s Open House Gallery, the event echoed “fresh” from wall-to-wall. Rocawear, launched by co-founder Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter back in 1999, is looking to keep the success of its brand thriving, and the blueprint was apparent: an aim to blur the line between the streets and the runway by putting a crisp and edgy spin on the traditional Rocawear aesthetic.
So what does this mean for the future of the brand? – Clearly, a wider audience of stylish consumers. The modish threads showcased at the event were noticeably slimmer, sleeker and came in a vast array of sophisticated hues. From boldly printed tees with eye-grabbing prints, to denim, jackets, watches and more (the sneaker collection – which included gems from Puma, Nike and Sutra – was our fave!), it’s safe to say there was a little something for just about everyone.
The vibe was on and poppin’ as New York City’s DJ M.O.S. manned the turn tables and guests sweat it out to the classic sounds of Michael Jackson, NERD, and upbeat hip-hop/dance grooves. Kids were break dancing, female reps flaunted the hottest Roc fashions with impeccable footwork, and an in-house artist was present to capture it all through the fluent expertise of his paintbrush.
Among those basking in the hype of the occasion was none other than 3LW member (and familiar face on the Kardashians’ reality TV show) Adrienne Bailon, who was looking fabulous as ever and rocking a contagiously glowing grin.
