Try a new body wash.
I know you can’t imagine life without your lavender-scented foaming body wash but it might not help you reduce the appearance of body acne. There are over-the-counter medicated body washes and scrubs that are ideal for treating mild cases of body acne. Use noncomedogenic products daily which simply put means they won’t clog pores. There are also lotions, gels and creams that can be used daily to fight acne. Be sure to look for ingredients such as Alpha-hydroxy acid and Salicylic acid which dry blemishes, tea tree oil which kills bacteria and Benzoyl peroxide which unclogs pores.
Not only is stress detrimental to your overall health but it also can have adverse affects on your skin. According to an Acne.org article, stress is one of the main contributors to adult acne because it affects your body’s hormone production. The body’s adrenal glands produce more cortisol which results in an increase in oil created by the skin’s sebaceous glands. Stress also decreases the effectiveness of the immune system so when heightened, it causes existing blemishes to heal more slowly. Getting 6-8 hours of sleep, participating in physical activities or even adopting a new hobby are stress-relieving alternatives to try.
