More To Life Than Red Bottoms

If I see one more fashion post with Louboutin shoes, I’m going to scream. Ahhhhh! I don’t get. Ok, that’s a lie. I do get it. Louboutins are to-die-for shoes. They’re a luxury high-end item that I can honestly say I one day want to be able to afford. Key word, afford. But for now, I must simply stand back and admire from afar. What exactly is it that I see in these shoes? What does the world see in these shoes?

Every female who has made “it” is seen wearing a pair of red bottoms. They’re a status symbol–a sign that there is a social and economic ladder to climb. The red bottoms symbolize wealth, fabulousness, style, and to be seen in them could only mean you embody such attributes. I believe myself to be fabulous and stylish, but wealthy, not yet.

It baffles me how many women are breaking bank, going broke, and skipping meals to get a pair of red bottoms in their possession. Jay-Z said it best, “I am so dope, like Louboutins with the red bottoms, you gotta have ‘em, you glad you got ‘em.” Since when does not being able to afford your rent yet purchasing a pair of Louboutins go in the same sentence? Women, rich and poor, are obsessed with these shoes. Why? Because they have red bottoms?

More than likely, when you think of the hottest shoe, the first designer that comes to mind is Christian Louboutin. The truth is there are so many shoe brands out there to choose from. Duh. Think Miu Mui, United Nude, Jeffrey Campbell, Jessica Simpson, Stewart Weitzman, Steve Madden, and so many more. These designers have been able to create sexy shoes, without raping your pockets. While these shoes won’t sport the envied signature red sole, they will have the style-power to enhance your look. So what if your classic black patent leather pumps aren’t Christian Louboutin. If you cant afford the red bottoms right now, remember, there are so many other bottoms to choose from.

What are your thoughts? Are you dying for red bottoms, or do you not see the hype?
